The power of goal setting is enormous. The more specific the goal, the better chance you have of succeeding. Your goals should always be on your mind.
1. Set SMART goals
The key is setting SMART goals – which are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and set in a Time Frame. Write down exactly what you want, how to accomplish it and benchmarks for measuring your progress.
Write down your goals, no matter how big or small. When you write them down it makes them clear and real. This great life hack will help you get exactly what you want out of life and make it easier to manifest in every area of your life.
For example, if you set out to lose weight and become fitter, decide how much weight and how much fitter in what time frame. Then write down exactly what you will do.
2. Visualize success
When it comes to achieving goals and living the life you want, nothing is more important than having the right attitude. This isn’t about positive thinking or beating yourself up if a negative thought pops into your mind. It’s about learning how to use your subconscious mind to create the results you desire.
Start by visualizing the desired outcome and think and behave like you’ve already achieved it. Feeling how success affects every part of your life will motivate you to behave in ways that align with your goals. Visualize the outcome you desire, then think and behave like you’ve already achieved it.
Research by psychologists confirms that we are 95% more likely to achieve our goals if we write them down and make them visual. Write down your goals and create a vision board with pictures that represent what you want to achieve.
3. Create an action plan
To achieve any goal, you must create an action plan.
Determine how you will measure success, and break your goal down into smaller, intermediate goals. It makes it easier for you to believe it’s possible and it helps you organise yourself on a short, medium and long term. Take the time to outline what you need to do, step by step. Get clear on the resources you will need, who can support you and what you might need to outsource.
Then, create a roadmap for every objective by outlining the results you want and the sequence of activities required to achieve them. Connect your purpose to the goal by writing down why it means so much to you and will change your life for the better.
4. Hold yourself accountable
One of the best ways to achieve any goal is to hold yourself accountable. If you understand that you are the only person responsible for your life, and take responsibility for the decisions that got you where you are today – you can start taking control. That’s what accountability means.
If your goal is to lose weight and you haven’t yet achieved that, it’s time for a reality check. It’s time to start taking responsibility for the choices you have made in terms of your diet, exercise routine and other lifestyle habits that have led to your current condition.

5. Celebrate victories
When you complete a goal, treat yourself to something you enjoy, like going out with your family or friends, getting a massage, having dinner at a nice restaurant or doing anything else that reminds you how far you’ve come.
This means that every time you hit a small or big goal, you should give yourself a treat. To maintain your drive and keep the passion burning, consider rewarding yourself along the way—even if it’s just recognizing a small victory. Keep the desire and enthusiasm burning with immediate rewards to keep your motivation high.
As Napoleon Hill said, “Whatever the mind of a man can conceive and believe, it can achieve”. The mind is a powerful tool; use it wisely!
